This preparation belongs to a group of medicines known as the 'osmotic laxatives'. It works by causing water to be drawn into the lower bowel. This increases the water content and volume of the stools, making them softer and easier to pass.
It is generally used in instances where rapid bowel evacuation is required, such as prior to surgery or examination procedures.
Warning!
It is important to drink plenty of fluids whilst being treated with this medicine.
Individuals taking this medicine should be aware that it will cause frequent and liquid-like stools.
The period of bowel cleansing should not exceed 24 hours as longer treatments may cause water and electrolyte imbalances.
Use with caution in: Elderly people, High blood levels of magnesium (hypermagnesaemia),
Inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease ,Low blood potassium levels (hypokalaemia),Weak or debilitated people,
Not to be used in Blockage of the gut (intestinal obstruction), Severely decreased kidney function,Sudden expansion of the large intestine seen in advanced ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease (toxic megacolon),Undiagnosed abdominal symptoms

Состав
1 мл препарата содержит
активное вещество: натрия пикосульфата в пересчете на 100 % безводное вещество — 7,5 мг (20 капель);
вспомогательные вещества: сорбит (Е 420), натрия бензоат (Е 211), кислота лимонная моногидрат, натрия цитрат, вода для инъекций.
